格瑞尼爾是前總統小布希時代的美國駐聯合國發言人，報導說，他已公開出櫃，若川普真任命他成為駐聯合國大使，他將是美國外交事務上首位公開同志身分的內閣層級官員。
選舉期間，川普在這一議題上就和傳統共和黨人不同調，即使他挑選的副手彭斯有「三反副總統」（反同志、反墮胎、反難民）的稱號，但川普在競選時不但高舉過彩虹旗，共和黨全國代表大會時更高呼支持「LGBTQ群體」（女同志、男同志、雙性戀者、跨性別者和不定義性別者），讓黨內極端保守派難以招架。
美聯社（AP）引述消息人士指出，從選戰初期就力挺川普的朱利安尼，是川普屬意的國務卿人選，「只要他（朱利安尼）有意願，在這項人事安排上將不會有所謂的競爭局面。」
早前美國媒體盛傳，川普的國務卿口袋名單包括前聯邦眾議院議長金瑞契（NewtGingrich）、田納西州選出的聯邦參議員寇爾克（Bob Corker）及美國前駐聯合淺談輪盤的必勝妙計國大使波頓（John Bolton）；朱利安尼的法律背景，一直被視為是司法部長的熱門人選。
但朱利安尼今晚在華府的一場活動上受訪時說，他不會成為司法部長；問他對國務卿人選的看法，他則說「波頓是非常好的選擇」，至於有沒有比波頓更好的人選？朱利安尼笑說，「說不定是我呢，不知道耶！」
消息人士說，上述兩個職位的安排，川普仍在考慮中，尚未定案。1051115
